Microsoft Office is the most extensively used Office software suite. It comes with a word processor, a spreadsheet application, a presentation program, and many other utilities. The company also offers various programs for non-profit organizations, business, and personal use.

If you are an administrator, teacher, or student in a school, you might be qualified for a free Microsoft 365 subscription. The Microsoft Office student bundle is perfect for students on a budget, especially those who don’t want to or can’t pay for the Office Suite.

What Does the Microsoft 365 Student Subscription Include?

A free Microsoft Office 365 subscription is an excellent option for students because it allows them to collaborate on popular Office 365 web apps such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The free Office 365 student subscription includes a 50 GB mailbox and access to Microsoft Teams to communicate and collaborate with other classmates.

Students also have access to personal cloud storage using OneDrive (unlimited for groups of five or more, else 1 TB/user). You also get access to Microsoft Sway for creating interactive reports, designs, personal stories, and presentations.

There are three plans that Microsoft offers, namely:

  • Office 365 A1
  • Office 365 A3
  • Office 365 A5

A1 is a free online version of Office that includes Microsoft Teams. However, A3 costs $2.50 per user per month with full access to the Office desktop apps, and A5 costs $6.00 per user per month with everything in A3 plus robust security management and analytics tools. Both the A3 and A5 plan allows you to install Microsoft Office desktop apps on up to five computers, tablets, and smartphones per user. You can check a detailed breakdown of the pricing structure on Microsoft’s academic website.
